Most of the time, yes — but there are a handful of items that no licensed junk removal company, including us, is able to take. It usually comes down to safety and disposal regulations, not personal preference.
Here’s a simple breakdown of what’s typically off-limits, and what you can count on us to handle without a second thought.
Items junk removal companies generally can’t take
- Hazardous chemicals and liquids: Paint, solvents, pesticides, cleaning chemicals, and similar products usually need to go to a household hazardous waste facility instead of a regular truck — they’re not something a standard disposal site can accept.
- Fuel and flammable materials: Gasoline, propane tanks, motor oil, and other flammable liquids fall under the same rule. These require special handling that a general junk removal service isn’t set up to provide.
- Car batteries and other automotive fluids: These typically need to be recycled through an auto parts store or a dedicated recycling program rather than a regular pickup.
- Asbestos-containing materials: Anything suspected to contain asbestos (common in some older home insulation, tile, or siding) requires a licensed abatement specialist, not a junk removal crew.
- Medical waste: Needles, medications, and other biohazard materials need to go through a medical disposal program for safety reasons.
- Ammunition, firearms, and explosives: These aren’t accepted by any general hauling service and need to go through the proper channels.
What we can take
The good news is that this list covers a small slice of what most people are getting rid of. Everything else — furniture, mattresses, appliances, electronics and TVs, yard debris, garage and attic clutter, and most renovation or construction debris — we’re glad to haul away.
